Matthew is attributed as the writer of the Gospel that bears his name.  He is a Jew writing to his countrymen, the Jews, about Jesus Christ.  He presents Jesus as the King of the Jews, the long awaited Messiah.  There is only one Gospel, but there are four accounts of it.  Here we have Matthew's version of the "Good News" from God.  Matthew was a tax collector also known as Levi.  The Gospel was most likely written before the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.

Gary Chumbley and Ed Hill are co-teaching          the study on the book of Matthew during the           2nd trimester of 2007.
