Item 1:
If Jesus is not the son of God, then the Bible is a fraud.
The Bible prophesied Jesus in many places:
Genesis 3:15 prophesied Jesus as the
"seed."
Isaiah 7:14 says, "Therefore
the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall
conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel." Immanuel means god
with us.
Matthew 1:23 repeats Isaiah 7:14.
Luke 1:31 says, "And behold, you will
conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call his
name Jesus."
40 men wrote the Bible under God's inspiration.
Their words are for everyone alive today. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says,
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine for reproof, for correction, for instruction
in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly
equipped for every good work."
How well do you know Christ? In your familiarity
with Him, have you only skimmed the surface of His character? As a
child, did you perhaps learn songs such as Jesus Loves Me and
did your parents teach you a bedtime prayer that began, "Now I
lay me down to sleep; I pray the Lord my soul to keep"? Do you
know Jesus only from artists' painted or chiseled visions of what he
must have looked like?
The depth of Jesus's life and teaching as the New
Testament records is like a pool of crystal-clear water -- it's far
deeper than it looks. The old, old story of Jesus is forever new and
touches our deepest needs. The apostle Paul referred to this when he
wrote "the unsearchable riches of Christ" in Ephesians
3:8. He also wrote "in whom are hidden all the treasures of
wisdom and knowledge" in Colossians 2:3.
If Jesus were just a good man but said that
He was the Son of God, then he would have been a liar -- and a liar
is not a good man. Consider John 10:30, in which Jesus said, "I
and my Father are one." They're one in purpose. Christ is the
reflection, the image of God. |
