How to find true Christianity

Lesson 3 -- The
identity of Christ

Item 2:
Christ proved who he is.

The gospel of John was written "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God" (John 20:31). John 20:30 says, "And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book." But those signs that the Bible does record should be plenty to convince anyone that He was the Christ. Because of Him, the blind saw, the lame walked, storms ceased, multitudes were fed and filled, and the dead came to life -- all at His command.

Some who walked the Earth with Jesus still doubted. Ever heard of Thomas? Christ appeared to the Apostles after his resurrection. All believed Him but Thomas, who wanted to see the nail prints in His hands. Jesus told Thomas to place a finger in His side. Thomas did so and believed. In John 20:29, Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Matthew 16:13-17 is another place where Jesus's deity is revealed:

When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

Jesus even identified Himself on several occasions.

John 6:20: "But He said to them, It is I; do not be afraid."

John 6:32-33: "Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
