When you become a child of God using the steps
listed in the previous lesson, you get a twofold blessing. First
of all, your sins are forgiven and you're saved. Secondly, you
become a member of the Lord's church. Acts 2:47 says, "And
the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved."
Notice that the Lord added to THE church, not
ANY church.
Jesus promised to build a church in
Matthew 16:18.
He built one church.
Romans 12:4-5
discusses how the saved make up the
body, or church, of Christ. A careful study of
Ephesians 4:4
reveals
that there is "one body." This one body, or church, is
what you join when you are baptized into Christ.
