So what does Christ expect
of the members of His church? Christ
expects us to meet together. Since it's
impossible for all the members of Christ's church to meet together, Christians
meet in local churches. The New Testament contains several
examples of local churches of Christ that were geographically
convenient to a group of Christians. The books of Galatians,
Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians are all letters written to
local churches of Christ. Jesus expects members of
each local congregation to meet together. Hebrews 10:24-25 says,
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and
good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as
is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the
more as you see the Day approaching." Gathering with other Christians is
one of the most wonderful blessings of being a child of God. These
gatherings give us an opportunity to encourage and strengthen one
another as we continue our efforts to serve God. |
