Are They "Born That Way"?

1. Introduction
   • The Bible’s teaching about homosexuality could not be clearer (cf. morning sermon notes)
   • But the social, political and religious assaults on these standards could not be fiercer! 
2. Some preliminary considerations
   • God cannot lie (Titus 1:2)
   • His Word is abosolute truth. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
   • His character is just. (Ps. 145:17; Rom. 3:26)
3. Are homosexuals “born that way”?
   • God created a natural order. (Gen. 1:27; 2:18-24)
   • “God made men upright.” (Eccl. 7:29)
   • God gives us choice. (Josh. 24:15; Acts 13:46)
   • But God says homosexuality is “against nature.” (Rom. 1:24-27,32)
   • God does not tempt us. (James 1:13-17)
   • Instead, God offers ways to escape temptation without sinning. (1 Cor. 10:12-13)
   • Homosexuals can change their behavior, even if not their temptations (1 Cor. 6:9-11)
     • Despite propoganda, science has not proven a link between genetics and homosexuality.
     • Even if such a link existed, tendency / temptation does not demand action. (cf. alcoholism, heterosexuality, etc)
     • Homosexual activity is a choice to avoid and a sin for repentance / forgiveness. (1 Cor. 6:11)
4. Conclusion
   • As Christians, we cannot tolerate, excuse, or condone evil. (Rom. 1:32; Eph. 5:11)
   • It is our job to season and shine… (Mt. 5:13-16) To influence the lives of individuals / families
     • With truth
     • With compassion
   • To influence the life of a nation (Prov. 14:34)
